Review:

I know gambling can be a problem and have seen its effect on people’s lives in the world around me. But while I do agree that gambling can be a problem and is a problem for so many, I do not believe it to be as big of a problem as the author makes it out to be. He has demonized a major source of funding for many organizations that are non-profit, whether they be religious groups or not. Bingo and raffles are a major source of funding for groups and people willingly opt in not just to win but also for the write off they get for taxes and to help the organization with funding. Yet this was looked at as wrong by the author, and therefore condemned. I do not agree with that view myself. I was pleased to see that there were support resources included at the end of the book for those who are victim to an addiction to gambling and for their families. While I agree this book has a lot of valid views and some great points, I did not fully agree with it or like it. It was well written, easy to understand, and well organized. But I am not sure I would recommend it to others unless they felt they needed some info on overcoming a possible addiction.
