T4JYM: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hopeless?

Ginny: Whoever the Lord allows it to be. It’s often been students and families in churches. Sometimes, it is people who don’t believe the same things I do, which is awesome. We’re all hopeless at some points, so I hope I can be used to bring hope to all who made need it.

T4JYM: Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? The future?

Ginny: If you’d asked me three years ago what I’d be doing now, I never would’ve guessed it would have been this. Therefore, I figure only God knows for sure what I’ll be doing five years from now–or even a year from now, for that matter. I’d be content to just be more settled in myself and to be more confident in His grace and in my career. Beyond that, I don’t know what to hope for.

T4JYM: How have you changed since you recorded the album and began touring?

Ginny: I’ve spent a lot more time praying, I think. I’ve learned to pound harder on the piano and figured out how to survive on less sleep. I’ve also been drawn out of my shell a lot and been forced to become more articulate about those things that are important to me. I’m also not so green and naive anymore, though sometimes I wish I still could be.

T4JYM: Do you ever find yourself questioning how you got where you are?

Ginny: Yep. At least a few times a day. Though there are many fun things about my life, much of it doesn’t match my personality. However, I think the Lord has used it to stretch me and force me to rely on Him instead of my own abilities.

T4JYM: How have the staff and artists of Rocketown Records affected your life?

Ginny: I love them all so much. The staff has been great. They are precious people. Sometimes we have to sit and work things out much like families do. I’m so grateful that I get to work with these people everyday. As for the other artists, I love them dearly, too. Not only am I amazed by their talents and their depth, but hanging with them is so much fun as well. We are all similar enough in personality that we seem to all click very easily. Aside from that, their CD’s are in my player as we speak.

T4JYM: What is the biggest thing you have learned from touring and ministering through music?

Ginny: The biggest thing I’ve learned is that I have a great deal more to learn. Secondly, I’ve been amazed to watch God use me and my music many times when I’ve thought that my performances were less than favorable. I’m glad He’s bigger than I am and that He chooses to use me even when I’m not at my best.

T4JYM: Where do you get ideas for your music?

Ginny: I get ideas from everywhere. Sometimes from things that I read. Other times, I hear others say things that inspire an idea. Many times my lyrics come from the things that are on my own heart–the things I’m struggling with, specific situations, or others’ effects on me.

T4JYM: Who, aside from Jesus, is or has been the biggest influence in your life?

Ginny: I think I’d have to say my Mother and my Grandfather. Both are very strong individuals in very different ways. Both love the Lord a great deal and have walked with Him through joyful and sorrowful times. Both find their refuge in Him and are faithful to praise Him for everything He’s done.

T4JYM: How do you fill your spare time while on tour?

Ginny: Spare time? Hmmm…Don’t have too much of it. I spend a lot of it talking with the other people I’m on the road with. I try to get work done on my computer–answer e-mails, balance my checkbook, etc. I also try to write music. If possible, I really like to get out and experience the places we go to. There’s a lot to see, and I don’t want to miss out on it by always being in a bus, hotel room, or venue.

T4JYM: When do you find time for personal worship while touring?

Ginny: First thing in the morning or when I go to bed at night. Usually a combination of both.

T4JYM: Do you have an accountability partner or prayer partner to keep you encouraged and uplifted?

Ginny: My family and friends are very faithful about praying for me and staying very active in my life. I’m very blessed in that way.

T4JYM: Do you find the time while on tour to go to church? If so, how do you choose one if you are not familiar with the area?

Ginny: Usually if I’m on tour on a Sunday, I’m singing at church.

T4JYM: When touring, do any of your family travel with you? Or are they all at home wondering how things are going?

Ginny: I live in Nashville, and none of my family lives there. It would be pretty difficult for them to travel with me, because of that. However, I do talk to them often.

T4JYM: Have you always wanted to sing like this?

Ginny: Nope. If I had any dreams of this life, they were mostly that I’d be a songwriter. I actually intended to teach music to junior high or high school students.

T4JYM: Do you find it strange to hear yourself singing on the radio?

Ginny: Absolutely. I don’t listen to the radio much, so I don’t hear myself a lot. However, when I do, it’s quite strange–almost surreal.

T4JYM: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world?

Ginny: Be encouraged. There is indeed a God, and He has created you and allowed you to be on this Earth for a very special purpose. He loves you dearly and desires for you to know Him and to be excited about Him. Find Him. Explore the pages of your Bible and find out just who He is and what He’s like.
