Review:

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres to read. The latest book from author Mary Connealy is a great example of historical fiction and was an enjoyable read. It is well researched and gives the reader a look at life in the late 1800s. This is the final book in a three part series and it made me want to go back and read the first two books. Though this was the final book and I hadn’t read the previous ones, I was able to understand what was going on and get into the story. I was immediately drawn into the book and transported back to the historical setting in which it was written. Connealy writes in a manner that sets the stage for the reader to visualize all that is taking place and draws them in through her captivating writing style. The story itself was easy to follow and lingered long in my mind after I finished reading –  a true testament to Connealy’s skills as a writer. The book’s characters were personable and came to life as I read page after page. Very well written, believable, and realistic – a great demonstration of what historical fiction should be. If you enjoy stories of the past, this is a book you have to pick up. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what Connealy comes up with next!
