Looks

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11

So many people look at one another and make a judgement of appearance.

Society has its impressions on us, of what is overweight, what is beautiful, and what is acceptable. Chances are if you look closely at that celebrity you think is so flawless, you may just discover many things about them that are less than perfect. Besides though your looks may get you on the cover of a magazine, it is your heart, soul, and mind, this brings you to God, success, and happiness.

In 1 Samuel 16:7, the Lord said to Samuel, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

No matter how awful you think you look, God sees you as beautiful. After all, you are his magnificent creation. You were built in his image, and unique from any other. He also understands how we see ourselves with many flaws. There are ways to change yourself in a healthy and safe way. Seeing a dietician about your eating habits, planning effective exercises, a new hairstyle, new outfit, and even make-up can enhance your natural beauty. However, the most important thing you must remember is you are who you are for a reason, and God loves you the way you are. Anyone who does not is not worth your time!

Take me for example, I have enormous amounts of confidence. However, like any other person dislikes something about himself or herself, I dislike my body size. My friends, family, most people who know me, and especially God, do not think I have a weight problem. They all love me for who I am. People all know me for my sense of humor, my talents in singing, dancing, and snowboarding. They turn to me for friendship, advice, someone to listen, and someone understanding, who never judges. They also see how strong my faith in God is, and see how happy I am. God has showed me how amazing I am, and my attributes have shined through making me deeply and truly beautiful.

Who you really are inside is what matters and making good choices, looking towards God will increase your confidence, and he will prove to you that you can make a difference without looks. Good looks are only a temporary glamour that soon fades away.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”  2 Corinthians 4:18

After all, it feels much better when someone likes and loves you for who you are and not your looks. You don’t have to be good looking to be a sports star or a musician, as long as you have faith in yourself and God, you open the doors to endless possibilities.

So next time you feel down, look to the stars and talk to God about how you feel, make a list about your strengths, you’ll see how much you have to offer, and God will show you the gifts he has given you.
