Review:

This is one of those picture books that will be staying in my kids’ library for a long time. I absolutely loved the story and even had to read it a second time. I then passed it on to my husband to read, who also loved the message. The lyrical rhyming gave it a sing-song feel that was almost magical, drawing the listener on through the book. It is most definitely a read aloud book. This is the kind of book that I would choose to read to my class at school, though I teach in a public school where faith is to be kept separate, I think I might still include this book since the lesson on how much words can hurt is a message all children need to hear.  Our children so easily slip into the poisonous bad mouthing that is so common in our world, unaware of the impact their words have on others until it comes back on them. This is a much-needed lesson or today’s children. And the illustrations were amazing. The book was bright and colorful, almost whimsical. I absolutely LOVED it and can’t wait for my own son to wake up from his nap so that we can read it together.
