Prayer Lesson 17: Prayer Lists

We have examined our prayer life over the past 16 lessons. One of the things we have been looking at in detail is our need to be in prayer for others.

One of the ways to keep yourself praying for others is to keep a prayer list. Carry a notebook with your Bible. Write down requests. But dont’ JUST write them down. Pray for them.

There are different groups online that offer prayer lists. On these mailing lists or social media accounts you can share your requests and then pray for others. Most lists compile their requests to send out in one large list.

So now that you have a prayer list that you are praying over, how do you know WHEN to stop praying for the listed items?

Some prayer requests are easy to detemine when you can stop praying. For example, prayers that have a date in it “i have a job interview on Monday” or “On Sunday I am sharing my testimony” don’t need to be continuous beyond that point.

Prayers that have been answered can be removed from your lists as well. For some people you are praying over that means contacting them and asking how things are going.

Otherwise, use your discretion. Many lists send a new list out each week. Lists are then archived and anyone can review them.

The decision on when to remove prayers from your personal list is up to you. If you feel a burden to continue praying for a specific request on your list then don’t stop praying. God will lead you.

Think About It

Do you use a prayer list? There are many online. Do you participate or automatically delete the requests that go through? Do you pass on your own requests and praises?
