Rest and Recuperation

by Trisha Bridges Smith

Spring Break is coming soon and scores of people are already making plans to hit the beaches or the slopes. Parties are being planned, reservations being made, and activities being set. You are exhausted though. Flaking on the couch has a magnetic appeal….

“Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest.”

Our bodies are amazing. God truly is awesome in how He made us. Your body has its own internal regulator that tells you what you need. The problem is that all too often we ignore what our bodies are saying. Yet our bodies are fascinating because when God wants us to rest we WILL rest. We may be sick, but that is the beauty of how the body God gave us functions.

Why is it that we take no time for ourselves? Why must we push our bodies to the limit? God has promised us rest if we come to Him. He can relieve all of your burdens, all of your stress. But He wants you to come to Him first. So why do you fight against Him yet complain of being tired?

This Spring break why not take some time off? Let yourself recuperate. Rest up, gain strengtha nd relax. Pray and spend time with God. Let Him restore you. Let Him fill you and be your strength. This spring break go to God and let HIM give you rest.
