Review:
This was my first time reading any books by Katie Powner. Her latest book was not in my normal reading genre choice categories, but I am trying to branch out of my comfort zone and explore other literary styles and genres. I had a little bit of a challenge getting into this story at first, but once I did I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Though it was a slow start for me, it was a great story that lived on in my mind each time I stopped reading for the night. I felt she did a great job with character creation and development. They were very believable, realistic characters and they showed great growth throughout the story. I applaud Powner on her ability to create a positive story or forgiveness and family support that also tugs at the heart and stirs up the emotions. And throughout all of it, she wove the thread of faith and trusting God. The book did cover some fairly complex and advanced issues, so if you are looking at this for a teen, you should stop and read it first and then determine if they are mature enough to handle sensitive subject matter. But it was well written and full of intense emotion. A real heart warmer.
