Review:

Having been raised in a southern Baptist church I was raised singing all of the southern Gospel songs and hymns. And I have found from reading other books like this one that I love to learn more about the hymns and songs out there, the history behind them, what motivated the composers to create them. It always makes the songs so much more meaningful and inspirational. It amazes me sometimes as I read the stories that are behind the songs that there are such powerful meanings there, that God has inspired these people with such a life changing, touching message. I loved reading this book. It was enlightening to see where these fifty songs sprung from and the message behind them. The research that went in to compiling these songs with their stories is truly wonderful, giving readers an inspirational lesson that will encourage them and uplift them. It is truly an eye opener to see these stories explained, to see how people poured out their hearts in the form of worship, giving us the opportunity to take those songs and sing them from our own hearts, making them personal. It is a great book and one that is perfect for those music lovers you know.
