Review:
I heard all of the press and the hoopla about this movie when it came out in 1998. But I did not go to see it in the theaters. I remember how everyone kept saying “Go – show the world that a Christian film CAN succeed…. support Christian films!” yet I still did not go. I didn’t even see it until 2004, MANY years after it was released to home video. And I loved it. It was a great video. It was done in the same style as others of its genre, keeping up with the mainstream videos out there for children. I loved the fact that it IS no different than the videos they are producing today, yet it IS different because it has a solid, Biblical story as the basis. The storyline was great – no straying from the story. It was well written, and the music and animations were wonderfully done. I enjoyed it very much. As is the case with most visual representations of familiar stories I found myself saying “Wow… I never thought of it that way…” For example, the fact that Ramses was Moses adopted brother… It never occurred to me that Moses was raised in the same home as the king he would battle later in life. I love when that happens! If you have not seen this movie it is time to do so. I am so glad I did. I truly hope that there are more videos like this released from Dreamworks or other great production companies.
