Traffic Time – Play Or Pray

By: Elaine Lantz-Davis

If you are old enough to drive a vehicle, you’ve been bored and impatient in traffic, every one has. Some people play their favorite music as loud as possible, (sharing) their music tastes with their captive neighbors. How do you spend your time in your car? Do you even think about doing anything productive during this time?

You have spare minutes, given to you as you travel. Count them up some time. Five minutes to go here, thirty minutes to go there. Why don’t you make this the most powerful time of your day? What on earth could you do that is powerful? Well, you can begin your time by talking to your Creator. No matter what the world hurls at you to deal with, your God has not forgotten you. So take that step towards Him, giving praise and honor to Him. Pray for your family, friends, neighborhood, pastor/priest, the schools, our local political figures, our president, our country, the world.

When You hear an ambulance coming and pull over to wait for it to pass, do you pray for the one the ambulance is carrying to the hospital? If not, why don’t you? It could be you or your loved one inside one day. Would you hope that someone would pray for you? For your salvation, for the bleeding to stop, for the doctors to be able to work on you in time? What you do with your time in your car matters. It could mean life or death, physically or spiritually.

When you see a law enforcement car speed past you, pray for their safety. When you see the helicoptor coming to the local hospital to airlift someone to a larger hospital or bring them from an emergency, pray for the ones they are picking up, as well as the pilot and caregivers.

The world may never know what you do in these small ways, but your God will not forget.
