Review:

Mysticism is one of those words and concepts that people have a hard time understanding so don’t bother with. I honestly had no clue what to expect of the book or the subject. The term mystic made me think it was something occultic in some way or perhaps Gnostic (shows you my utter lack of understanding). This book introduces readers to what mysticism really is, and how it can include Christianity and faith. It is an amazing exploration on the topic, going back through the Old Testament to see it in their faith, and progressing through history, pointing out the personal stories of all of the Christians over time who have sought to unravel the mysteries of the Bible and their faith. I am still not sure what I believe about mysticism though I can say that I most definitely understand it much more now. I found the book to be slightly challenging to read and understand it was not impossible to read or a waste of time. It is a book that those looking for a bit more might enjoy but not those looking for an easy reading Christian living book. It is a book that you’ll have to read for yourself to decide on, then you determine what you think. Very informative and very interesting nonetheless.
