What is the way?

John 14:6
By: Alexander Rico

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6, NKJV)

In today’s world, there are so many different shortcuts we use to get something done quickly. In driving, we take side roads, and unmarked streets. In studying for an important test, we use other peoples notes, hoping to get the same amount of information. In our chores, we try the quickest, easiest way to get the job done, even if it means not doing it well; however, as we can see from the above verse, there is no other way to heaven. There is no other way to life.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only gateway into heaven. I have heard so many different people on the television saying, “If you do this” or, “If you send this” you will be saved.

No! That is not the truth. You cannot simply buy your way into Heaven. This verse proves to us, that there is only but one method that we can come to be saved. What is that way? Well, through Jesus Christ, the son of God.

It’s like a maze. You begin your long journey following one path; however, later on, that path splits into several different methods to travel. But, only one truly leads out. Now, many people get themselves trapped into the maze by trying different pathways. Before you know it, you are hopelessly lost.

As is true for many of today’s world. There are several supposed venues that one can take to do something.

I remember a long time ago, when I would ride my bike around town, I would take different roads to try and get to one particular location. Now, not all of the roads helped me on a direct route to where I wanted to go. Many times, I’d end up many miles away from my destination. In the end, by the time I would reach the place I was attempting to go to, I would be dead tired, and ready to simply sit down and rest.

When doing chores at home, I would set the dishes in the sink, rather than washing them, and then collect them to be put into the dry dish rack. As you can imagine, nothing was changed on those dishes, and in fact, they were worse off then they were before I placed them into the water.

Stop trying to take shortcuts, and back roads to get to heaven. Those will get you no where but farther away. Go directly to the main road and ask Jesus for forgiveness.

No, Jesus is not this mean, giant bully, who is sitting on his throne with a chip on his shoulder. Nope, instead, he cared enough for each of us to die on the cross for our sins, and our mistakes. All he asks us to do is confess them to him directly. No, you do not have to go through a person, or a specific routine to accept Christ. All you have to do is confess them with your mouth and mean it in your heart. Turn away from that road you are headed down, and get on the right path with Jesus.

Maybe today, some of you are taking shortcuts and are headed down a road that you know to be taking you farther and farther away from God. Well, if that is the case, and you wish to commit your entire life over to the Lord; then, by all means please join me in this simple prayer accepting Christ into your life.

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner, and take this time to confess all my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Come into my heart, my mind, and my soul. Take complete control, CHANGE my everything, and be LORD of my life. In your precious holy name, AMEN.

If you prayed that prayer along with me, I’d like to announce that today, the moment you accepted Christ into your life the Bible says, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner represents. (Luke 15:10)

Just like that, you are a new creation, and a changed person. You now have the awesome opportunity to come before the throne of grace, and communicate with God personally. You also will feel the heavy burden which used to be your old life lifted away, and the new life through Christ pushing you on.

May you continue to grow now in your new life with Christ Jesus our Lord.
