Review:
Having read books 4-6 in the series, I decided it was time to go back to the beginning and see what I have missed. One of the things I noticed after reading her later works in the series compared to the first book, the complexity and layers she adds with each book increases. The first book was definitely more of an introduction to the time traveling and multiple paths compared to the complexity of the lives of the characters in later books. But it was still well done and captivated me. I was drawn into the story within the first few pages and then couldn’t put it down. I devoured her book in a short time (a little more than a day since life continued and I had to care for the family still despite wanting to sit and read the whole time) and immediately downloaded the next to my iPad to continue reading. I continue to be impressed at the level of research done for each story. Not only does she have one era to research like other historical fiction writers, but she has dual eras that exist in her plot! The entire concept of two separate paths and the design of how the time travel works is beyond my understanding as an author, myself. I never could have come up with such a creative idea and then developed it in the manner she has. So impressive! If you are a historical fiction reader, this series is an absolute must. You can read any book as a standalone novel, but reading them all in order is so much better and so worth it!
