Winding Down to the End of School

by Trisha Bridges Smith

The month of May is upon us and school is weeks away from ending. Amazingly enough yet another school year has come and nearly gone. Summer is knocking at the door and friends are thinking of what they will do during the stretch of time approaching quickly.

This article is not a summer suggestion list, alternatives, nor anything to guide you into summer vacation. (Watch for those kinds of articles in upcoming issues.) It is a reminder. A reminder to live life now, to seize the moment and make the most of each day. To push through til the end of school and make a difference where you are now.

With school winding down many are feeling the pressure beginning to lighten up. They are seeing the end in sight. Teachers are not giving such long detailed assignments. People are planning graduation and end of the year activities. Students are looking forward to being out and filling out registration materials for the next school year.

What are you doing? Are you making the most of each day that remains? Are you being a light on your campus?

Why not pledge now to make a difference on your campus for the rest of the year? Be a witness to those on your campus. Don’t be afraid to carry your Bible and read it. Don’t be shy about wearing a shirt that proclaims Christ or shares your faith. Invite your campus Bible club to make an impact on your school’s lunch periods by passing out fliers or tracts. Invite the to meet at lunchtime outside instead of in a classroom. There are tons of different ways to reach your campus.

Pray about how you can shine on your campus. God will show you how He wants to use you on your campus. Live for Him and let Him speak to the other students from now until the end of the school year. There are only a few more weeks.
