The following prayer format can be used in small groups or alone. Scriptures follow each area to show you why this is important to pray.
Try using this prayer format in your personal prayers for the next few days and then comment on it for the other readers. Let’s all share a little about how we feel praying through these formats.

A – Adoration
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise (Psalm 100:4)
W – Waiting
Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10)
C – Confession
Search me, O God, and know my heart… See if there is any ofensive way in me (Psalm 139:23-24)
I – Intercession
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone (1 Timothy 2:1)
P – Petition
By prayer and petition present your reqeusts to God (Philippians 4:6)
A – Adoration
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6)

Think About It
Are your prayers balanced? So far the formatas have focused on more than just asking things of God. One aspect of this format is to wait. Think about your past prayers. Are you waiting on God? (this is where the prayer journal is a good idea. Go back through it and see if God is answering your prayers or if you are still waiting. Make note of that)
