Halloween Alternatives: Hallelujah Night

By Kristen Mangham

My Church, Faith Street Ministries of Port Allen, Louisiana, holds something called a “Hallelujah Night” on the night of Halloween. Our church doesn’t promote Halloween as it is considered the “devil’s holiday” so instead we set up tons of games (such as Bible Trivia, basketball, Winwheel, bean ball toss, darts, and we even have a space jump sometimes, just to name a few). The kids (also adults too) get tickets for winning their game and at the end of the night, they can go inside the church and get prizes. We also have hayrides throughout the night.

We serve hotdogs, Chili etc., have drinks and chips and all that (you can have whatever you want)

At the end of the night we have a contest between the adults and the kids and whoever wins , just wins, its just for fun. We also have things like guess how many jellybeans are in this jar (it can be M&M’s or Chocolate chips anything of that sort) and who ever guesses the winning amount wins the jar. We have several cake walks throughout the night also. Women, men and children are welcome to participate. Who ever wins that certain round gets a cake to take home. A great treat to all who are in that house!

The event can last as long as you want it if its a weekend there is probably no time limit but if its not on a weekend you have to go by the curfew of your town for that night.

I hope I was able to give you some ideas on what to do as a Halloween alternative!

God Bless You all and Above all BE SAFE!!!!!
