Psalm 119:105-106 (NIV) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.”
As a long distance runner, I adhere to a tight training schedule. Long runs, recovery days, intervals, hills, tempo runs, fartlek, short runs, bounds, and strides make up my schedule. Running is a pastime that I enjoy greatly; training for races, though, can be rather hectic. To me, running is a chance to get away from the world for just a short time period and relax. It gives me a chance to reflect on the upcoming day or the past day’s events. What may seem like a waste of time to some, I think highly of.
Similarly, the Bible is not just any book In fact, it is the very Word of God that He inspired writer after writer to record. But Satan tries to tell us not to read the Bible because it is not what normal people do. However, the Bible is our get away and relaxation from a hectic world. God, in turn, uses His Word to show us the wonders of a relationship with Him. The more we study it with an open heart, the more He can teach us to live our life better.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
Do not be fooled by Satan’s tricks. He knows that any additional study you put into the Bible brings you into a closer union with God. Believe me, he knows. His greatest fear is to see a Christian–you–living out what is in the Bible. He hates it! Therefore, continue to irritate Satan by reading your Bible daily and following what God shows you.
