Psalm 107:43 Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.
This verse is the final one in a longer passage of thanksgiving that gives praise to God for saving His people from struggles and challenges. In this Psalm we see how God continually forgives the Israelites time and time again. We see his enduring and everlasting love for us. He rescues and redeems His people over and over because He loves us no matter what. He delivers us from trouble and always provides for us.
And then we come to the final verse. Let the one who is wise heed these things. Let the one who is wise ponder His loving deeds. It is through wisdom that we ponder his greatness and accomplishments, His saving grace, His goodness and mercy, and through wisdom that we recognize all of this and give Him thanks in humble adoration.
What should we take from this verse that comes at the end of such a long and praise-filled psalm? We should understand first of all that ever we have comes from God. He is our provider, our redeemer, our salvation, our peace, our hope, our joy…. We need to recognize all that He has done in our lives and we should pour out praise and thanksgiving to Him.
We also need to pray and ask Him to open our eyes to those things we don’t realize He is doing or don’t readily recognize as being touched by His hand. We need to pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal things to us and help us to be more aware of Him at work in our lives.
Are you thanking Him for the work He is doing in your life?
