Devotion: Proverbs 23:18

November 13, 2024

Proverbs 23:18  There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

As believers we have a hope for the future, of eternity spent with our King. Our hope is more than the life we live currently. It is for what is to come, as well. It is not something temporary. It will last far longer than that, longer than our human minds can understand or fathom. And best of all, nothing can change it! Our hope will NOT be cut off!

When we face hardship, it is easy to become discouraged and think there is no end in sight. We can easily lose hope that things will get better. But we serve a faithful and loving God and He knows our hearts (1 John 3:20), our minds, our needs, and best of all, our future. He has redeemed us (Galatians 3:13), called us by name. Our names are written in the palm of His hand and He has already made a way for us. He has triumphed over everything through the cross (Colossians 2:15). We have no need to be discouraged and lose hope. Our hope is secure in Him.

I recently read something that really made me hopeful. I cannot recall where I read it, but it pointed out that with every storm there comes peace after, with every night there comes a dawn, with every test, there is now a testimony. There is an end in sight, but that end is eternal glory with God. That is where our hope should lie, not in earthly things that will pass away.

Are you feeling down and discouraged today? Take hope, my friends. There is surely a future hope for you. Trust in Him and His mighty power and be free of discouragement.
