Devotion: 1 Peter 5:10

November 23, 2024

1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Throughout the month we have covered many different verses that inspire and encourage us to have hope in God, hope for our future, for eternity with Him, peace on earth, and hope in His promises and provision. Today’s verse gives us yet another promise we can hope for – restoration.

Suffering, trials, tribulation, stress, woes, problems, struggles…. Whatever you call it, we know it is a part of the lives we live. We know we cannot escape it.

But we also know that suffering is not permanent. It is a temporary thing, regardless of how endless it may feel at the time or how frequently it creeps back into your life.  We have heard the saying, “It’s always darkest before dawn.” We know that these times of suffering make what comes next all the brighter and more beautiful. He will restore each of us. Personally. And not only does He personally restore us, but He makes us strong, firm, and steadfast, preparing us for future glory (2 Corinthians 4:17).

It is through this restoration that we are empowered and prepared for more. We are able to stand strong, being firm and steadfast, when we face future suffering and woes. We can place our hope in that promise – the promise of restoration.
