Psalm 79:9 Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake.
Today we journey to Psalms where we find our next name – God our Savior. We know that we are loved and cherished by our God, and we know that He has made a way to redeem us from the sins in our lives. He gave His One and Only Son to be the sacrifice needed to pay the price for us. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life” (Romans 6:23). He has saved us, our Savior.
And our God is our Savior in other ways, too. Every day we need Him because every day we sin. We are sinful creatures that are (hopefully) trying to live holy and righteous lives. But we ALL sin (Romans 3:23). Therefore, Psalm 79:9 should be our daily prayer. Help us, Lord, because we cannot do it on our own. Help us, oh beautiful Savior, to make better choices.
And let all we do be done for the glory of God. Let our actions, our thoughts, our choices, our desires, all be focused on our Savior, so that we CAN live a life that gives glory to God. Let our lives reflect the goodness and grace of a God who saves.
Lord, deliver us and forgive our sins. Let that be your prayer every day. Forgive us, Father, for we have sinned and need Your grace and mercy.
Today make this Psalm a personal prayer. Help ME, God MY Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver me and forgive my sins for your name’s sake.
