Isaiah 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
Sometimes we see words that we hear frequently and they lose their power. Their meaning is simplified in our mind because we have seen it so much we don’t think of what it truly is. Today’s name is Creator, our everlasting God.
Isaiah asks two questions that could be considered rhetorical in nature – do you not know and have you not heard? He was speaking to Israel, who is notorious for going astray and forgetting our Creator. It is hard to believe that anyone who believes in God would be unaware of His power and majesty or have never heard of Him. But Isaiah is reminding the straying people of Israel that He is the Lord of all, the One who made everything, the One who created each and every one of us. He existed before the world did and spoke everything into existence. And it is all His. Everything belongs to Him.
Not only did He make everything, but He loves us. Through Adam and Eve sin entered the world. But He has made a way to redeem us all. His plan has existed for as long as the world has. And He is working in each of His creations, shaping them and moulding them into something new, something wonderful and holy. And He does this without tiring. He is inexhaustible. He gives us all we need, is present at all times, is always there.
Celebrate Him and His creation. Cherish the world in which we live and the people we come in contact with. Tell of His goodness and grace. Remind others that He made everything and is making each of us new…
