Book Review: A Wager With the Matchmaker

This was Book 3 in a series on arranged marriages for the Shanahan family. It was a sweet book with an interesting plot and great character development. I enjoyed the time spent reading and thought it was well written. It had elements of surprise and unexpectedness, as well as plenty of romance. I was actually a bit surprised at the romance. I have read many a Christian romance, as well as plenty of the non-Christian romances, and I was not expecting the desire that was evident between the two main characters. It was still clean and wholesome, but it was more than I have seen in other Christian romances in the past. This was my first time reading a Jody Hedlund book and I am eager to see what she offers next. That said, I did not read books one or two in the series, obviously, but did not have any trouble keeping up with the story and did not feel like I was missing out on something prior to reading this one. They can be read as a series or as stand alones, as I have done, without anything being lost or missing. The writing was easy to read and flowed from one page to the next, with characters who were well developed and saw great growth by the end of the book. The storyline was also easy to follow and was easily believable. You quickly fell in love with each character in the story and wanted to see what their future held. I thought it was a wonderful book, very sweet and wholesome while still providing you with elements of romance to capture the mind. Well done and recommended read!
