Devotion: 2 Timothy 1:9

Sept. 3, 2025

2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time…

Whether you feel it or not, God has called you for a purpose. He gave us His Son to save us and with salvation comes a calling, a purpose. We did nothing to earn salvation or to gain favor from Him. But no matter how worthless we are or how many mistakes we have made, He loves us and wants to be with us. He showed His grace and mercy when He gave us a purpose, and our purpose aligns with His own.

You are called to a holy life. We are supposed to be different, set apart, and we must make the choice to turn from sin to Him each day. When we turn to Him and seek His purpose for our life, we find ourselves living a life that brings glory to Him. We become living testimonies of His divine purpose for each one of us, each of us called to serve Him and tell others of His grace and goodness.

His purpose for us was established before the creation of the world. He knew what would happen in the Garden of Eden and He prepared a path to redemption. If He has done this knowing we are a sin filled, unworthy world of rebellious people, you can rest assured He also has a purpose for your life. And that purpose can be found in Christ and has been there since before the beginning of time.

Everything we have comes from Him. Everything within us is ours because of His love. And everything we do should be done to bring glory to His name.

Today I challenge you to take a look at yourself. Look at your life, your behaviors, and your efforts. Are they aligned with His purpose? Are you living a holy life, set apart and righteous? Examine your life through the lens of divine purpose and intention. What is your life saying to others?
