Revelation 7:12 …saying: “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”
It is not often we dig into the book of Revelation, but I am always excited when we get to study this book. It is not as scary and hard to understand as people believe. There are great truths in it and things we SHOULD take time to study. Today’s verse is just one example.
The verse lists seven specific attributes of God that are worthy of all our praise. Specifically we see blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and strength. It is referred to as a seven-fold praise given by the redeemed and the angels to God. The verse begins and ends with Amen (which means “it is true” or “so be it”) signifying agreement and confirming the truth of this seven-fold declaration. It is an expression of certainty that God’s attributes are true and everlasting which is indeed something we should be thankful for.
Our own worship should be like this. We should be thanking God for His greatness and majesty. He has done so much for us and continues to sustain us each day of our lives. He is always listening, always there, always ready to help. But we are fickle. We turn to our own devices to try to make things work.
Today let’s pause and give Him the worship He deserves. Let’s use a seven-fold praise just as the redeemed and the angels do in heaven. Let’s use that as a model for our prayers and praise today.
