Colossians 3:16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
We are halfway through our month and I pray you are finding gratitude and thanksgiving is coming easier for you. We have a lot more to cover, so let’s dig into today’s verse.
Every day we have many opportunities to let the message of Christ dwell within us – IF we are in the Word. We must be in the Word daily if we are to learn from it, and if we want to use it to help others, we need to be firmly rooted in what He has to say.
We are told by Paul that we are to teach and admonish (warn or reprimand someone firmly) one another. But we don’t do this on our own or from our own beliefs. We do it from God’s Word. Remember, we were told in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, and correcting. We use Scripture when we go to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and it is all done in love.
And then we are reminded by Paul in this verse to do this with all wisdom (not ours, but the Spirit within us) through psalms, hymns, and songs. And over all of this is a deep sense of gratitude. We recognize that we receive all of this and act in love through Him, and we are thankful for it.
Are you letting everything you do be done in love and gratefulness? Remember to be firmly rooted in God’s Word as you go through your day and be thankful for His provision, love, and correction, whether from Him directly or from your fellow believers.
