Review:

This was a cute story. It was also a very touching one with a wonderful message for children on giving. Linda Hutton has written a heartfelt story that will touch you. The book is an easy to read and easy to follow story that kids will enjoy listening to over and over again. The illustrations by Karen Murley were great. They really brought the story to life within the realistic, yet youthful images. They were not infantile in appearance, appealing to all ages, whether those non-readers who are cuddling with mom and dad or the new readers, still learning the words. It is a nice book for not only a moral lesson on giving, but also an entertaining book to read with your kids, spending time with them and fostering a love of reading. While I thought the book was a wonderful one for your kids, I honestly would not buy it for my home and my family. But I stay that only because this book is too traditional and classical in its style and I prefer books that are more abstract or alternative in their appearance (those colorful books using bugs or animals to share the message). But this is still a great book with a wonderful message well worth reading.
