Devotion: Isaiah 43:7

Sept. 6, 2025

Isaiah 43:7 …everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

We see in today’s verse that He has called us by name and each of us was created for His glory. He made all of us and He has a purpose for us and a plan for our lives, which we will discover as we seek His will and listen to His guiding presence.

People were created for a purpose – to glorify Him. We reflect His character in our lives and our actions and we see His attributes mirrored in our own actions – love, grace, mercy, etc. Our creation was not random, not unplanned. It was not done for our own benefit or self-glorification or for the glory of others. It was done specifically to glorify Him and share Him with the world. Everything we do should point others in His direction, pointing back to His grace.

We were made in His image (Genesis 1:27). This means we are meant to reflect His qualities and His attributes. We are an extension of Him in the world, and we need to be living like chosen people (Colossians 3:12) and a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Being one of His chosen people is not restricted solely to the people of Israel. He has called ALL of us, Jew and Gentile alike. All creation has been made to glorify Him (Psalm 19:1)

The words formed and made tell us that He deliberately and carefully created us. We are clay in the Maker’s hands (Isaiah 64;8), being shaped and molded into beautiful children of God. The fact that we see we were both formed AND made tells us that we are complete, His workmanship, created in Christ to do good works (Ephesians 2:10)

Are you living a life that glorifies you or one that glorifies God? Our daily actions, our decisions, and our interactions with others can glorify God if we seek Him and align every aspect of our life with His will for us. Never forget that you were called by His name and created for His glory, formed and made and perfect in His eyes.
