Review:
Talk about an edge of your seat, wild up and down rollercoaster ride of a book! This suspense had me turning page after page after page as I literally devoured it in one evening (and went to bed far later than I had planned). Author Susan May Warren is a master storyteller when it comes to suspense, and she knows just how to weave romance into things to add that special touch to the overall plot. Being a dog lover, the K9 character of Caspian delighted me. If you have read any of Warren’s other books you will recognize some of the familiar names and characters who graced the pages prior. But if this is your first book by this talented author, don’t worry. You’ll be able to keep up despite the names being new to you. The characters are well developed and have likable personalities that bring them to life as you read. The setting of the Alaskan wilderness is not one that is familiar to me, but it was clear that Warren knows what she is talking about and has done her homework to make the story flow in a real-life setting. Throughout her story you see a message of healing interwoven with hope. She creates a solid community with her story, and you can see the interdependence they have on one another and how important that is. And though God and faith are not discussed in length, He is still included in the story, and you can tell it is a Christian based novel. I appreciate that it is clean and wholesome where romance is included. I am excited to see what the next book in the series offers since this one kept me enthralled from page one! If you pick up this book, be sure you set aside plenty of time to read it because you will not want to put it down once you start!
