This month I am going to finish last months topic, “Life is not a solo sport.” However, this time I am going to talk about unity and diversity. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 says, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body–whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free–and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” We are all to be one! Not only that, Jesus needs to be the head and heart of our group. (Church, youth group, ECT) Do you have cliques in your youth group? Of course, everyone does. But we need to lay our differences aside and come together.
People depend on us. You may at one time thought this, “I am just going to skip this week of church. They don’t need me and I can live skipping it this time.” That is one of the most untrue statements in the world!! Each person depends on us. We all give apart to the group, even though we may not know what it is. You may be the shy person who hardly says anything, but you are needed! Everyone is needed, and that is why we should forget the differences and become one. We can help each other grow stronger in our Christian faith and find out our purposes for being in the group! God has brought us together for a reason! We should be diverse! Not just by ethnic backgrounds, but by everything. Meaning, we know at school their will always be cliques. But its time to bring the different groups together! We are all unique in our own ways but when we come together to praise the Lord… we are showing Him we are all for Him. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ; even though we are different…we are ONE!
Be selfless.
Be intentional.
Be relational!
Don’t come together for yourself, but for God. We are His creation. Let us come together. Unity and diversity are gifts from God!
