Devotion: Micah 7:7

November 4, 2024

Micah 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Today’s verse is one of great hope and inspiration after a depressing portion leading up to it. Prior to today’s verse, the message is not great. The faithful people are gone from the land and not one upright person remains (Micah 7:2). Evil abounds and there’s no one trustworthy (Micah 7:5). But Micah refuses to give up and his faith is strong and clear as he states, “Not me! My hope is in my Savior who hears me!” How inspiring is that? Such faith!

Just like Micah and the people around him, we live in a world that desperately needs some hope. Evil surrounds us. Society is full of people living less than pleasing lives. It is all so hopeless if you do not have something greater to place your trust in.

As for me, I echo the words of Micah. My hope is in the Lord, who I wait on and watch for. If I didn’t have that hope life would be sad and depressing, truly hopeless. But I do have hope. Hope in a glorious Redeemer who has already defeated the darkness, conquered death, and is preparing a place for me in heaven.

And I have faith that He hears me when I cry out to Him. I trust that He will respond to my prayers, even if I don’t necessarily like the response I get. But He responds, without fail.

Is your hope in the Lord? If not, today is the perfect time to meet Him one on one and start a personal relationship with Him. Send me a message and we can discuss how you can have hope in Him and trust that He hears you.
