Ephesians 1:16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
Verses like this are so easy to read over and not think about. I know I have read them and moved on without another thought. But then there are times, like today, when I stop and actually READ it and seek to understand why it was included since we know that ALL Scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching (2 Timothy 3:16).
Seeing what Paul and the other apostles actually prayed is very informative. I love when Paul includes what he prays and how he does it, so that we can see a great man of faith at prayer and use it as a model for our own lives. It is almost as good as when Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:9-13.
Though our verse just covers Ephesians 1:16, continue reading on and see what else Paul prays for the believers at this church. Let it be a guide for you and your own prayers and modify it slightly to fit the people you wish to pray for.
I pray it for any of my readers, for those who read the devotions in a book and those who read it on the website or in social media. Without all of those readers, I would have no reason to write, so I am grateful to God for the opportunity to reach people with His message. And before each writing session each day, I pray specifically for the readers who will be receiving the message, that God would prepare their hearts, and that He would give me the words to encourage them in their walk and help them grow closer to Him. And I thank Him for each person, for every word, and for the time I spend in His Word learning.
Who can you thank God for and lift up in prayer today? Think of who God is laying on your heart and then thank Him for that person or those people and lift them up in prayer.
