Devotion: Revelation 3:10

Mar 22, 2026

Revelation 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

The book of Revelation is hard for some people to understand and a lot of people don’t even bother trying to study it because they have convinced themselves it is too complicated to explore. But it isn’t cryptic and truth is not hidden within it. It is there for everyone to study and learn from, if you just give it a chance.

Today’s verse is a glimpse at the goodness that is found within the book. Written by the Apostle John while in exile on the isle of Patmos, we see a message of hope and inspiration. We are told that having waited with patience and enduring, He will keep us from the hour of trial. This is interpreted by some as Pre-Tribulation, meaning the Church (you and me) will be taken to heaven (raptured) before the Tribulation begins (the events described in Revelation).

In this verse, we have the words of Jesus as He speaks to the church in Philadelphia. His message is one of hope. Persevere, hang in there, and trust that He will protect believers from suffering through the Tribulation. Though the words were spoken specifically to an early church, the message is relevant to all believers at any period of history. He will protect us and keep us from the hour of trial, or what is known as the great Tribulation.

We can draw strength from this promise and can rest assured that we will not experience the hardship that the world is going to be subjected to during the Tribulation. But we need to have our hearts right and need to be believers to have this happen. If you do not know Jesus personally as your Savior, today is the day to meet Him and be saved. Turn to Him today, confess your sins, and ask for forgiveness. And then walk in His ways, obeying His commands and making disciples of every nation.

Prayer:  Lord, Thank You that we will be spared from suffering in the trial yet to come that tests all of the earth’s inhabitants. Let me live for You and patiently wait for Your return. Amen
